Introduction
Information systems have been used in
Finland in health care for a long time and the level
of expertise is high. However, until today Finnish
healthcare industry's software exports have been
minor. Export HIS project studies the feasibility of
exporting existing Healthcare Information Systems
know-how and software products. Since Technology Park
Teknia and the City of Kuopio have good relations to
Shanghai in healthcare technology, Shanghai was
chosen as the first target in this
study.
The
objective of the project is to provide a description
of the Chinese health care delivery system as well as
to analyze the current health care information
systems needs in China. A specific area to be looked
at is laboratory information systems and the project
collaborates closely with the Laboratory
Modernization project of Teknia. A market research of
the Healthcare IT market in Shanghai area will be
carried out. Challenges encountered in the process of
localisation of health care software into Chinese
language will also be studied. A next phase for the
project will be planned according to experiences of
this first phase.
The project
is part of the TekesFinnWell
technology program and it is funded by the European
Regional Development Fund.
