e-FixIT: 
A FileMan-HTML systems development toolkit

e-FixIT is an applications development toolkit for creating HTML front-ends for FileMan databases by using JavaServer Pages technology with Web-FixIT -components. Both an internationalized Free FixIT and a commercial Finnish (registered customers only) versions are available since January 2001. Free support is available only through the Hardhats user community.

e-FixIT uses database components created in the Web-FixIT project. The components are used to build server applications which connect to a VA FileMan database server. The server application is basically a JavaBean to which the WWW server builds a HTML interface from JSP scripts. You can see a sketch of the general architecture from here. Because the connection between the end-user and the application server is the same as in a normal HTML session (HTTP/HTTPS), e-FixIT applications usually work very well with firewalls, etc.

• Demo lab test application: A pre-installed HTML interface to a demonstration database on a University of Kuopio server. You can use this application to test the functionality of an application developed with e-FixIT. The description of the demo database is also available. The application has been built completely using the e-FixIT Application Wizard tool.
