Component-FixIT:
A component-based architecture and toolkit for applications development and integration in healthcare

The Component-FixIT project is a new phase in the FixIT partnership, started in 1995 between the University of Kuopio and the healthcare software vendors and university hospitals applying the so-called MUSTI technology in Finland. The objective of the project is to

develop a migration strategy targeting at the year 2005 and a rapid applications development technology to implement it, designed for the Finnish "MUSTI cluster" and the global "VA cluster", based on reusable business components, and supporting object-based applications integration (HL7 v. 3) within a regional architecture.

The project is implemented by the University of Kuopio, Computing Centre, and funded by the National Technology Agency of Finland TEKES together with a consortium consisting of software companies and university hospitals in Finland. The project started on 1st January 2000 and its funding period will end on 31st December 2001. The Principal Investigator is Dr. Mikko Korpela.
