Teaching
Environmental microbiology group is mainly
responsible for the teaching in different courses. We teach in English
the courses:
1) Health Related Environmental Microbiology
(next time in autumn 2008, each second year),
2) Advanced Studies in Environmental Microbiology and
Biotechnology (next time in January-February 2009, each year).
These
two courses can be a part of Master's Degree Programme in Environmental
Biology and Biogeochemistry (EBB). Besides that EBB-students get extra teaching in microbiological
methods - if needed.
The other courses
are in Finnish, but they could be given in English. These are:
1) General
Microbiology for Natural Science students in each September-October
2) Environmental
Microbiology starting at the end of January up to the first days in March
in each year
3) Environmental
Problems in Rural Areas each second September, next time in 2009
4) Food Hygiene,
each year in March
In addition to the
microbiological courses mentioned above, we are responsible for the water
courses of the Department:
5) Water Chemistry,
each September-October
6) Water Treatment,
each October-November
7) Laboratory
Course in Water Chemistry and Treatment, each December-February
8) Hydrobiology,
each February-March
9) Advanced Water
Chemistry and Treatment, every second spring
In
addition we teach parts of the courses:
1)
Preparing Personal Study Plan for the first year students
2)
Waste Treatment and Management in each spring
3
Introduction to Environmental Protection, each autumn
4)
Environmental Cell Biology (next time in late spring 2009, each second
year)
5)
Soil Ecology 2 (next time in late spring 2008, each second year).
Besides
courses many students have annually made their doctoral thesis works, M.
Sc. or other thesis works in our projects. We have also supervised many
theses works done outside of the university.
