Equipments
We have an ordinary
microbiological laboratory, where it is possible to determine microbial
numbers or cultivate them or study microbial populations in a 10 l
fermentor. We have microbial culture collections of ectomycorrhizal fungi
(mainly for Pinus sylvestris), coliphages and environmental
mycobacteria. We have a pilot-scale flotation
plant and disinfection reactor for wastewater experiments.
We
are in autumn 2009 setting up a large environmental study laboratory,
funded by State Provincial Office of Eastern Finland, in co-operation
with Savonia polytechnics and the Department of Physics of the same university.
The laboratory has e.g. a UV, ozone and biofilm reactors, a TOC analyzer
and other up to date equipments to facilitate the water research of the
whole campus area.
