Laboratory of Applied Environmental Chemistry (LAEC)

University of Eastern Finland has a professorship of environmental
analysis in Mikkeli, where it conducts research and development activities, and
provides supervision for postgraduate students. the Laboratory of Applied
Environmental Chemistry (LAEC) was established in 2004 to Mikkeli. The
number of international staff is 24 in Apr 2010.
Laboratory specialises in five interrelated areas:
- ion mobility spectrometry (IMS)
- environmental monitoring
- nano-scale adsorption
- electrochemical purification techniques
- advanced oxidation technologies
LAEC is focused to those five mentioned and connected research
and development areas. The target of the laboratory is to entrench it´s place as
a well known, reliable and eminent research and co-operative partner with
enterprises and other research organizations. One assignement of this is the
amount of research reports, scientific and conference publications (> 200) done
by the members of present staff. LAEC has a lot of collaboration with many
international partners as well as in local and national level.
