The School of Public Health and Clinical Nutrition is one
of the three big institutions within the Medical Faculty, the University of
Kuopio. Health is our mission.
We are training professionals in health sciences and
medicine. Teaching languages are Finnish and English. We provide a wide range
of international courses and programs. Two-way student and staff exchange is
very active with several Universities and other academic institutions all over
the world. On average, we have about twenty full-time foreign students
studying in our School at any given time.
Part of our teaching takes places outside campus in
various health care units, such as primary health care centers, occupational
health clinics, and hospitals. Some of our courses and programs include an
exchange period in another country outside Finland.
We conduct scientific research on health and related
phenomena, and we do it on a large scale from molecules to the level of
social, cultural and global systems. Two of our departments solely focus on
research. In addition to academic scientific research, we provide the
infrastructure, expertise and environment for contract-based studies in
partnership with pharmaceutical, nutritional and other industries.
