University Management

The University of Kuopio elects a Rector and two Vice Rectors for five years at a time.

Rector is in charge of managing and co-ordinating the operations and strategic planning of the university and managing action and economic planning and preparing development projects and other far-reaching plans. Rector also provides the University Senate with a report on the operations of the university and an outlook for future developments in the context of discussions concerning the annual report.

Vice Rectors assist the rector in tasks falling within their purviews. Vice Rector Jukka Jurvelin is in charge of research. Vice Rector Katri Vehviläinen-Julkunen is in charge of education. Vice Rectors attend to the Rector's duties when the Rector is prevented.
