Academic information for students studying for a degree at the University of Kuopio


Registration at the University of Kuopio

Students admitted at the University of Kuopio must register as attending or non-attending each academic year. Validity of student's registration is checked from the annual Student Union membership fee sticker. Registration must be done by 15 September annually.

Registration practice depends on the student's status and the year of studies. Please see the detailed instructions for each case below.


Studies

Studies consists of various courses or larger study blocks. The extent of the courses varies  and they may include different types of work: lectures, exercises, lab work or independent work, set-book examinations, seminars and so on. In most fields, the study units form larger modules at three levels: basic or introductory studies, subject or intermediate studies and advanced studies.

Main teaching language at the University of Kuopio is Finnish. However, we have a growing number of courses offered in English.  NB! Always check the teaching language. Only a fraction of all the courses listed here are available in English.

Graduation

When you have completed the courses, thesis and written maturity test included in your degree, you can apply for a degree certificate. Typically degree certificates are issued within two weeks after leaving your request. Please note that that obtaining a degree certificate in Business and Management takes three weeks!
