About the Department
The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry is responsible for the teaching
pharmaceutical chemistry and biochemistry, and also partly for teaching
biology and biotechnology, Bachelor of Pharmacy and Master of Pharmacy
students. In addition, the Department also carries out a master-level degree
program in Medicinal Chemistry. Both of these pathways can eventually lead to a Ph.D.
The teaching is based on high level research in the field. The core areas
of this research are medical chemistry and pharmaceutical drug development, as
well as the development of novel bio-organic and medicinal compounds.
The Department staff includes 14 teaching researchers, with about 30 other
researchers and assistants, who are employed mainly by external funding for
ongoing research projects.
