About the Faculty The Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Kuopio was founded in 1973. Today, approximately 700 graduate students aspire towards Bachelor of Pharmacy and Master of Pharmacy degrees or Masters' degrees in General Toxicology or Medicinal Chemistry. In addition, there are about 100 post graduate students in the Faculty. The Faculty houses four departments: Department of Social Pharmacy, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Department of Pharmaceutics and Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology. The mission of the Faculty of Pharmacy is to teach pharmaceutical subjects at the highest level, and to promote scientific research into drugs and the application of this research for the benefit of society at large. In the Faculty, high-quality research-based teaching is available in six disciplines: Social Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Biopharmacy, Pharmaceutical Technology, Pharmacology and Toxicology. Apart from the students of the Faculty of Pharmacy, the Faculty has university wide responsibility for the teaching of Pharmacology and Toxicology.
