Effects of organic horizon and soil moisture on CH4 oxidation and uptake of
a boreal Scots pine forest soil (1995)
We studied in situ and in laboratory whether the organic horizon could act as
a phgysical “buffer system” against soil dryess and water stress for the CH4
oxidizing microbes in a Scots pine forest soil in Suonenjoki, Finland. The study
site had plots with irrigation and peeling (removal of organic horizon)
treatments. This study was carried out in co-operation with Finnish Forest
Research Institute (Suonenjoki Research Centre).
