The research group is focused on gas (CO2, CH4, N2O, NO) balances of natural and disturbed boreal/arctic terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. There are research projects on peatlands, forest and agricultural soils, lakes and rivers. The studies include microbiological processes responsible for the gas fluxes. The research group has participated in several national and European research programmes on climate change and was a memeber of The Nordic Centre for Studies of Ecosystem Carbon Exchange and its Interactions with the Climate System, NECC (2002-2007). The research provides knowledge for environmental administration and environmental technology to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. |
