Genome Center of Eastern Finland
Genotyping platforms
Diabetes and
Heart Disease Unit has excellent facilities to carry out high-throughput
genotyping, gene-expression studies and DNA sequencing. We have several
different equipments to accomplish these analyses.
Sequencing
We have two
Applied Biosystem’s 16-capillary DNA sequencers. They provide capacity that is
sufficient for medium scale sequencing projects. These sequencers are also
capable of performing DNA fragment analyses.
Quantitative PCR
Our quantitative
PCR technique is based on Applied Biosystem’s TaqMan-chemistry. It provides fast
and efficient tool to genotype a few SNPs from moderate number of samples. In
addition to genotyping also gene-expression studies are possible.
Sequenom
Our new Sequenom
instrument provides superb opportunity to carry out high-throughput genotyping.
Sequenom’s new iPLEX chemistry make possible to genotype tens of SNPs from a
large number of samples. In addition to SNP genotyping, gene-expression,
methylation and copy-number applications possible using the Sequenom platform.
