| | Graduate SchoolThe A. I. Virtanen Institute for Molecular Sciences (AIVI) holds a status as a Center of Excellence in Teaching (2007-2009) awarded by FINHEEC, and has a long and successful history in doctoral training and education: The AIVI Graduate School produced altogether 86 doctoral theses during its operational years 1995-2006. The quality of the doctoral theses produced was excellent, e.g. the mean impact factor of the original articles included in the theses (four articles on an average) being almost 5. The average age of all the dissertants of the AIVI Graduate School was 31.6 years (male 32.0; female 31.2), and all the graduates placed themselves in the society very well. Since 2007, top-quality doctoral training and education at AIVI continues as part of the Graduate School of Molecular Medicine which is a merger of the AIVI Graduate School and the Kuopio Doctoral Program in Medical Sciences. The Graduate School of Molecular Medicine combines the top expertise in research and acknowledged experience in doctoral training of both AIVI and the Faculty of Medicine at Kuopio University, and will definitively measure up at least the standards of its predecessors. AIVI is also active in the BiND (Biology of Neurodegenerative Diseases) EST Program. Dissertations How to publish your thesis in the A. I. Virtanen Institute’s publication series: Courses |
