entries and about 60 color illustrations. The entries refer to “classic”
concepts of molecular biology but in addition, introduce some latest
developments in the field and contain a few future visions, such as human
therapeutic cloning, xenotransplantation and transgenic bioreactors.

Jänne is primarily intended for postgraduate students preparing their
first manuscript or a grant application, but also more experienced writers may
find it useful. The approach in the book is very practical, and preparation of
a scientific article in English is followed step by step using an original
article of the Author as an example. In addition, Professor Jänne brings the
attention in some terms and phrases which often are misunderstood by
non-English speaking writers. The book also includes instructions for
correspondence with the editors, some examples of statistical analysis, and

Preparing an article and a grant proposal in the biosciences The book
(in English) "A Guide to Scientific Writing. Preparing an article and
a grant proposal in the biosciences" by Professor Juhani Jänne
follows an authentic example article section by section focusing on the
special organization of each part of the paper including the appropriate use
of tenses of verbs. It likewise contains words and phrases, which may create
problem at least to those not native in English language. The book also guides
through the editorial correspondence and editorial processes, and contains
tips on statistical analyses. In addition, the book deals with the preparation
of a successful grant proposal and the ethics of the research. The books is
aimed to be a guide of scientific writing for graduate students preparing
